Another show has just hit the Pasadena Playhouse, and we were thrilled to be invited to Opening Night!
When we found out that Native Gardens, the current Playhouse performance was directed by Jason Alexander, we just knew it would be hilarious, and we weren’t wrong!
The story takes place on the border of two backyards centering on two sets of neighbors: one couple who has been in the neighborhood for years, and one young couple who is new and ready to shake things up, and one big misunderstanding. It’s a heartwarming, funny, and a relatable story about the trials and tribulations of neighbors, generational differences, compromise, friendship, and heart. Plus, the gardeners in the show are hilarious (we won’t spoil it for you, but the whole audience was cracking up!)
Any opportunity to see a play at the Pasadena Playhouse is a wonderful experience, but Opening Night at the Pasadena Playhouse is so incredibly special! The courtyard was transformed into a great party, with DJs spinning tunes from above, drinks flowing, and toasts being made, yummy tacos from Trejos Tacos (right next to the Playhouse) being passed on trays, and of course cast, crew and the amazing Playhouse team congratulating each other and celebrating with family and friends, as well as mingling with the audience. We loved the custom step and repeat, and walking the red carpet, as well as the centerpieces on each table. They were made out of- you guessed it- Native plants!
One of the best parts of the Opening Night party was when Pasadena Playhouse Producing Artistic Director, Danny Feldman, gave a wonderful speech along with Jason Alexander and the cast, and thanked everyone for coming and giving more insight to the special connection the cast and talented team formed. We loved when Jason brought up the important fact that it is a privilege to have such a beautiful and historic theatre right in Pasadena. He applauded Danny, and everyone on the Playhouse team for bringing world class theatre to Pasadena- a community where it is truly appreciated.
Opening night of Native Gardens was a blast! You can not miss this show! Tickets are available here through September 30th!
Thank you so much to the Pasadena Playhouse for having us, and thank you to Tiff Wu for loaning us the beautiful bags to carry!
See you in Pasadena,
